Job Description

Company:  Sense is transforming healthcare by redefining diagnostics. Our Veros™ instrument-free molecular platform empowers doctors and patients by delivering diagnostic results that can be trusted, in a way never thought possible.

Backed by some of the most respected venture capital firms in the world, we are a rapidly growing Company that is launching an entirely new class of diagnostic product: a rapid, disposable, instrument-free molecular product platform delivering the “gold standard” performance of laboratory testing without the constraints of costly instruments or readers.

We believe our approach enables better access, better outcomes, and better value across every aspect of healthcare.  Sense is aggressively growing from its strong research and development foundation and emerging as the global leader in this exciting new segment of healthcare.

The Role and Responsibilities: This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to contribute to the development and growth of an innovative molecular diagnostics start-up company. The successful candidate will perform a crucial role in the growth and characterisation of microbial pathogens as part of development of diagnostic products. The successful candidate would work in close collaboration with the existing laboratory research and engineering teams in a multidisciplinary environment.  The role will include the following key responsibilities:

  • Produce and characterise pathogenic bacteria and viruses for diagnostic product development;
  • Perform verification and validation testing of diagnostic tests;
  • Support the establishment of processes for the operation of relevant laboratory facilities;
  • Document and report results and data in accordance with agreed protocols;
  • Ensure compliance of laboratory operations with the company’s quality system.

Applicant: Candidates are expected to have a scientific degree relevant to the role in addition to significant laboratory experience in microbiology. Prior experience working with HG2 and HG3 pathogenic organisms within the diagnostics industry and knowledge of verification and validation testing of diagnostic products would be an advantage. A post graduate degree (Masters / PhD qualification) would be an advantage. More broadly, we are looking for a team player with the initiative, flexibility, drive and enthusiasm to make a difference, to achieve goals and exceed expectations in a dynamic start-up environment.

Package: Competitive salary (including healthcare, pension and share options).
