At AG Industries we specialize in the design and manufacturing of aftermarket filters and accessories for oxygen concentrators, CPAP/BiPAP units, suction machines, and nebulizers. This opportunity will be based at our headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. We are seeking an Engineering Assistant for a paid co-op position to support our engineering team with their increasing amount of customer projects. Tasks (the list below is not all inclusive):
Support the new product/process development including design, prototype, qualification, validation, product/process specification(s) for development of new products and design improvements of existing products
Operate in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820.30 Design Controls
Create SolidWorks CAD solid models, drawings, and change control of all product design documentation, using ASME Y14.5 drawing requirements and GD&T
Participate in problem solving activities, design reviews, risk assessment and mitigation plans, failure analysis and implementation of corrective action(s) as required
Use project management tools to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks and maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities to ensure that company goals are met
Support all aspects of production as needed; not limited to suppliers, purchasing, quality, injection molding, automation, assembly, and shipping
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures and to ensure safety for self and fellow employees and to ensure all behavior is appropriate in the workplace
This position offers:
Enhancement of 3-D modeling skills using SolidWorks including assemblies, drawings, and sheet metal
Engineering design practice using process flow and capabilities analysis starting at design inception through manufacturing completion.
Involvement with manufacturing production improvement, R&D, prototype builds, and engineering sales and marketing.
Mentorship from Senior Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineers
Being part of a global network of almost 30 companies and almost 6000 employees
Exposure to many Fortune 500 companies and other high-tech manufacturing organizations
Competitive wage ($15/hr.) and flexible daytime schedule (around 30-35 hrs/wk)
Term of employment is negotiable. Engineering major candidates available for complete fall semester will be considered first. Relocation and room/board reimbursement not available.
Undergraduate Senior, Junior or Sophomore engineering student with an entrepreneurial spirit and a creative mind
A desire to assist engineers in solving problems, product applications and special projects
Strong design skills and computer systems knowledge
Working knowledge of SolidWorks, SolidWorks EPDM, and Microsoft Excel
Self-motivation with excellent communication, organizational and people skills
The ability to handle multiple design projects in a timely manner
