Verana Health is seeking a data engineering professional with the skills to build and maintain data-driven applications. The engineer will work with a broader team concentrating on incubating, designing, and implementing large-scale healthcare data processing solutions. The engineer will interface with key stakeholders and apply technical proficiency across different stages of the SDLC. The engineer will play an essential role in creating high-level design artifacts using AWS managed and serverless offerings. Additionally, the engineer will deliver high-quality code targets for software modules, lead validation for all types of testing, and support activities related to implementation and software releases.
As a Data Engineer at Verana Health, you will be responsible for extending a set of tools used for data pipeline development. You will have strong hands-on experience in design & development of cloud services. Deep understanding of data quality metadata management, data ingestion, and curation. Generate software solutions using Apache Spark, Hive, Presto, and other big data frameworks. Analyzing the systems and requirements to provide the best technical solutions with regard to flexibility, scalability, and reliability of underlying architecture. Document and improve software testing and release processes across the entire data ingestion team.
A minimum of a BS degree in computer science, software engineering, or related scientific discipline.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in software development; 3+ years using AWS tools.
Demonstrated ability to build software tools in a collaborative, team oriented environment that are product and customer driven.
A strong programming background with extensive Python TDD experience.
Strong understanding and hands-on experience working in AWS cloud computing environment.
Experience with Athena, EMR, SNS, and Lambda.
Good understanding of relational databases.
Utilizes source code version control, implements automated testing and experience with CI/CD.
Hands on experience with Docker or Kubernetes container services.
AWS Batch, ECR, Glue experience is a plus.
Healthcare and medical data experience is a plus.
