Atomwise is looking for an enthusiastic, accomplished and creative Contracts Director who can think outside of the box to develop innovative agreements that support paradigm-shifting drug discovery. We are transforming preclinical drug discovery using artificial intelligence (AI). Our technology can screen billions of small molecules to discover novel scaffolds and potent analogs, and contribute to the rational design of molecules during lead optimization. Our partners include pharmaceutical companies, innovative biotech companies, top-ranked academic institutions and global non-profit foundations. As the Contracts Director, you will join a world class team that provides support and leadership across our business, operational and scientific functions. Everyone on our team is crucial to fully realizing the potential of our technology to transform drug discovery. You will draft and negotiate innovative collaboration, joint venture, licensing and other agreements with our non-profit and corporate partners that will help us build partnerships that advance drug discovery through the use of AI. Responsibilities and Duties: Draft and negotiate academic and corporate agreements, including collaboration, joint venture and licensing Review and negotiate intellectual property and financial terms with our business development groups Evaluate legal and business risk exposure for different agreements Collaborate with outside counsel in specific areas, such as intellectual property or tax Provide advice on contractual and business terms to other team members Track agreement terms for compliance purposes Improve and innovate internal legal workflows Build and maintain relationships with key personnel in academic research, technology transfer offices, pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, and business development Required Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or computational sciences 5+ years of experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex corporate contracts 3+ years of experience with biotechnology/pharmaceutical agreements 5+ years of experience with intellectual property and contract law Outstanding skills in reasoning and presenting logically and persuasively Professional communicator, in writing, on the phone, and in-person Preferred: JD or patent agent Compensation & benefits: Competitive salary, commensurate with experience Stock compensation plan – you'll be an Atomwise co-owner Platinum health, dental and vision benefits 401k with 4% match Funding for professional development and conference attendance Flexible work schedule Generous parental leave High performance culture Great colleagues When applying, please include: a cover letter a paragraph describing how your skills and experience will make you successful in the position a paragraph describing how we can help you achieve your career goals Five non-confidential examples of notable agreements you have negotiated and your contribution Atomwise is an equal opportunity employer and strives to foster an inclusive workplace.
